ways to cope: a semi-poem referential list

llarme:

  1. you are now the protagonist of a well-loved children’s movie. your suffering contributes to mere soul-ameliorating beauty to the crass, imaginary audience in that distant theatre you can’t see.
  2. you are now a charmingly free-spirited ghost, waltzing through life with light footsteps the way only the dead may walk. don’t cross rivers unless you pray first.
  3. all the injures and cuts you’ve borne are digging little pits in the earthen dirt of your body. but it is up to you to fill up those grooves with flower seeds and rich moist mud so good things may grow from there.
  4. power may be loaned from objects. sunglasses strengthen, perfume comforts, books act as vehicles, and chai is pure sensation, distractive and seductive and sun-warm and sugar-sweet all at once.
  5. buy pearl earrings. you carry the protection of all the seas in the world now.
  6. you think fate is cruel, and machinating your existence around like a puppet? ask your mother to loan you the trusty sewing scissors she always kept in the outer kitchen drawer. cut away the strings.
  7. you want to be worthy? you want to be a hero? i’ll tell you a secret. you become one when you, quite indulgently, decide you are one.
