So transfiguration is like chemistry, right? Orchestrating a reaction that changes one thing into another? So why do we have to weigh things?

What if transfiguration follows the law of conservation of mass? So if I changed a stone into a feather, it would weigh the same as it had before?

Are there then subsequent spells that can alter the density of objects? Incantations that can, in an “ant-man” sense, expand or contract the space between atoms?

I’m just so interested in the nuts and bolts of magic itself. Now I’m sure I’m a ravenclaw
